Port Chania

This piece depicts one of the oldest ports in Crete, Greece. The commission was designed to be installed on a wall along a staircase; therefore the angle of the work coincides with the staircase. Also, the small details such as the red watering can add a sense of life to such an animated and historic place. 

“We were fortunate enough to visit Chania, a historical town on the Greek Island of Crete. We loved the architecture of Chania’s old town and port area. We were already fans of Heather’s art, and were excited when she agreed to work with us on a custom Chania piece. Heather began with our trip photographs, added detailed research and created a design that resulted in a work of art with such amazing detail that anyone who knows the port area of Chania will recognize it. A work of art needs to suit its surroundings and Heather carefully considered size, angles, and perspective to ensure ‘Chania’ installed perfectly alongside our staircase.
